This variety of hard red spring what has been performing extremely well in Eastern Ontario and should be considered among the top choices along with Easton. It is Tall (providing lots of straw), later maturing and has best in class fusarium tolerance. Best suited to area 3. Very good yields and protein can be expected from this variety.

Furano – hard red spring wheat is taller, but still stands very well considering its height. Protein is very strong with this variety as well. This variety is ideally suited for dairy farms in Eastern Ontario.

Growing Areas

Furano is ideally suited to Eastern Ontario and Northern Ontario. Its combination of strong fusarium tolerance and tall height provides an excellent straw sample for customers who are looking to combine high straw volume with strong agronomics.
