Research Assistant

Posting:  Research Assistant (summer)

Key Activities/Job Responsibilities

Be part of the team developing new varieties for Ontario Farmers!  In your role as Research Assistant you will be actively involved in all areas of C&M’s cereal and oilseed research program including seed packaging, planting, crop and plot care and maintenance, data collection of disease and agronomic traits, early generation seed production, plot harvest and data entry.

Specific agronomy projects related to crop production [ie fertility, fungicides] will also be assigned as part of your role.

This position is full-time seasonal, from May to September.

C & M Seeds is a family-run seed and grain business located in Palmerston, Ontario.

Additional requirements:

You have a positive attitude with a desire to learn and develop new skills.  A background in field plot techniques and knowledge of the operation and maintenance of field plot and/or farm equipment is an asset but is not required.  Knowledge of agricultural practices, crop agronomy and basic computer skills would be an asset.  A valid driver’s license is mandatory.
